Tests received MIDI messages, not instrument audio, sound quality or end-to-end latency. SysEx access is not requested.

MIDI messages and sensor readings stay in this browser and are not sent to analytics. No recording or account is required.

Online MIDI instrument test

Test MIDI keyboards, electronic drums and pedals in your browser. View notes, velocity, channels and control messages live, without installing an app.

  1. Connect the instrument to your computer, usually by USB or a MIDI interface, and enable its MIDI output.
  2. Select Connect, allow MIDI access and choose the input. Use the channel filter when testing multi-channel equipment.
  3. Play each pad or key gently and firmly; move pedals and knobs. Compare note numbers, velocity and CC values in the log.

01Which instruments can I test?+

Keyboards, electronic drums, pedalboards and controllers that expose a MIDI input to your operating system. Traditional MIDI cables need a compatible interface; drivers may be required. An audio-only USB connection is not enough.

02Why does my instrument not appear?+

Check power, the data cable, MIDI mode and any manufacturer driver. Allow this site's MIDI permission, then reconnect. Browser support varies; try Chrome or Edge on a computer. Safari does not currently provide this API.

03How do I test drum pads and pedal sensitivity?+

Strike a pad softly and firmly and compare its note number and velocity from 1 to 127. Move a continuous pedal and watch its CC values. Some pedals send only on/off values; that is not necessarily a fault.

04Why does a note stay active or arrive on another channel?+

The grid tracks Note On and Note Off messages on the selected channel. Note On with velocity zero counts as Note Off. Sustain CC is shown separately; the grid does not simulate sustained audio. Check the instrument's channel and mapping settings.

05Should I hear sound, and does this measure latency?+

This is a MIDI message monitor and does not play or capture audio. The times identify when the browser received messages; they do not measure complete hardware or audio latency. Use the separate audio test for speakers and microphones.

06Are my MIDI messages saved or uploaded?+

Readings remain in this tab and are not sent to analytics. The log keeps only the 80 most recent displayed messages. Clear readings resets the view; Disconnect closes the input. Leaving or hiding the page ends the session.
